One or both parties to be married must appear in person with proper identification (driver's license, birth certificate, military ID or passport, etc.) for both parties and give, under oath, the following information:
Non-Resident Marriage License Application
If the applicants to be married do not live in Prince George’s County and are unable to appear in person to apply for a marriage license, they may apply for a marriage license using a Non-Resident Marriage Application (PDF) .
This form must be sworn to under oath and signed before a Clerk of the Court or comparable official where the applicants reside. Mail this form along with a $70.00 money order payable to “Clerk of the Court,” Attn: License Department, 14735 Main Street, Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20772. Personal checks will not be accepted, and the application will be returned to the sender.
*The license application provides for the mandatory disclosure of Social Security numbers of both parties. Social Security numbers are required by law and will not print on the marriage application. If applicant is a foreign national and does not have a social security number, the applicant must be present and sign an affidavit.
At the time of application, a license fee of $70 must be paid by either cash, credit card or money order. (Personal Checks are not accepted.)
Commencing August 3, 2020, civil marriage ceremonies will be performed on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Fridays by appointment only from 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Clerk’s Office located in the Judicial Administrative Services Building. The fee is $25.00 to be paid by cash, credit card or money order immediately prior to the ceremony. You must have applied for and obtained a valid marriage license at least two (2) days prior to the ceremony.
Replacement licenses may be obtained, during the six (6) month period the original license is valid, for a fee of $10.00.
